Frequently asked questions
At Talk Club Cambridgeshire, we strive to provide a safe and supportive space for men to talk about their mental health. Talk Club is a registered national charity committed to helping men open up and connect. Explore what our meetings have to offer and how we can contribute to your well-being.
What makes a Talk Club meeting a safe and supportive space for men to open up?
Talk Club meetings are open to all men aged 18+. We strive to create an inclusive environment where all men feel welcome and respected, regardless of their background or previous experience with mental health support. There's no pressure to share, and men are free to simply listen if they prefer.
How does Talk Club Cambridgeshire ensure that meetings are accessible and welcoming to all men, regardless of their background or experience?
Talk Club is a talking and listening club. The groups are run by trained Captains and are based on 4 simple questions. This structure, combined with a commitment to confidentiality, creates a space where men feel comfortable sharing.
What kind of activities or discussions typically happen during a Talk Club meeting?
We start by asking each man in turn a question.
'How are you? Out of 10?'
This simple question opens the door for men to share what's on their mind. Discussions are guided by the men themselves, with the trained Captains providing support and facilitating a safe and respectful environment.
In what ways do you think attending a Talk Club meeting can benefit a man's mental well-being?
It's been proven that talking about our worries is a good way to look after our mental health. But most men don't seem to know how to open up and talk about their feelings. They don't because it's not what men do, but we want to change that. Talk Club provides a supportive community and a safe space for men to develop these skills and improve their mental well-being.
